About Us
Welcome to the Craig D. Butler Scholarship Foundation!
This scholarship was established to honor the life of Craig D. Butler and to continue his legacy of integrity, generosity and service.
CDB Scholarship aims to aid young adults from under-served populations to pursue higher education. Each year, we will seek future high school graduates to offer financial support as they pursue their dreams in the aftermath of gun violence.
The Craig D. Butler Scholarship Foundation is an annual, merit based competition that focuses on instilling philanthropic values in ambitious, driven, goal-oriented individuals. This is a one-time award of $1000. Financial need is considered, however, all high school seniors are encouraged to apply.
An award recipient is selected in April of each year.
Eligibility
To qualify for the scholarship, the recipient needs to meet the following criteria
1. Students must be a resident of Pennsylvania/Camden County NJ at the time of application or attending a Pennsylvania/Camden County NJ High School.
2. Students must be of African American descent.
3. Students must have a scholastic average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
4. Students must be entering a two or four-year college/university as a full-time freshman student in the fall of the year of the announcement of the scholarship award AND/OR students must be entering an accredited vocational-technical school as a full time freshman in the fall of the year of the announcement of the scholarship award.
5. Submission of the completed application and associated documents.
Disbursement:
Funds will be paid to directly to the university. A letter from the educational institution will be required to ensure this requirement is met.
